Architecture types in Venice

There are mainly two architecture building types in Venice. The first one is Gothic, the other is Baroque.

1. Gothic: Palazzo Ducale
Designed in the 1420s and 1430s, the Doge's Palace is one of the key examples of Venetian Gothic architecture. The two primary facades face the Grand Canal and Piazzetta della San Marco, comprising decorative white Istrian stone and pink Veronese marble.

2. Baroque: Chiesa di S.Maria della Salute

Chiesa di S. Maria della Salute is located on Dorsoduro, and dominating the entrance to the Grand Canal opposite the San Marco area, the church was built in the late 16th Century and designed by Baldassate Loughena to an octagonal plan.
